From the 1920s through the 1950s, the Gretsch flagship drum set was the legendary Broadkaster Series. It featured a thin, three-ply shell and produced what was to be, “That Great Gretsch Sound.” Today, in the Gretsch Drum Factory in Ridgeland, South Carolina, USA, with the help of advanced drum-making techniques, the Broadkaster has returned, bringing with it all of the sonic brilliance of its namesake.
Broadkaster shells are made with a North American maple/poplar formula. Each shell includes an interior-ply scarf joint that supplies added structural integrity to thin, musical shells. Like all USA-made Gretsch drums, shell interiors are finished with classic Gretsch Silver Sealer. The shell is hand finished with the exclusive reverse round over-bearing edge, which allows greater surface contact between the bearing edge and drumhead. The result is tone that is incredibly deep and warm.

The DN200 has become an established favorite amongst both engineers and musicians alike. With its high headroom, dynamic response and sonic clarity, DN200 faithfully reproduces the character of electric and acoustic instruments and allows far more of the detail of musical performances to be captured. DN200 is intended for professional applications where +48 V phantom power is a standard feature on all mixing consoles, and its innovative design results in a significantly higher clipping point than many other active DI Boxes, providing +10 dBu output into a 2 KΩ load. This increased headroom means that much higher-level input signals can be accommodated without the need for an attenuating pad. Combined with a very low noise input circuit topology, DN200 offers a very wide dynamic range, and only requires the -20 dB pad when connecting directly to instrument amplifier outputs or other very high-level signal sources.
